model in 2000). In contrast on this date in 1959 the last 1959
model Edsel was assembled....Ford marketed it as "the car of the
future"....but they were considered to be unattractive, overpriced,
and overhyped....and the name "Edsel" became a popular symbol for a
commercial failure
