tribute to one of America’s original art forms. Tap dance is a
percussive dance dating back to the early 1800s developed primarily
from African and Irish influences. May 25 is actually the
birthday of Bill ‘Bojangles’ Robinson, a significant contributor to
tap dance. Some other of the art form’s most talented dancers
includ Fred Astaire, Gregory Hines, Ginger Rogers and Savion
Glover. At the turn of the 20th century, it became an
important feature of popular Vaudeville variety shows. Tap dancers
started incorporating complex syncopated rhythms into their
movements. in fact...Tap dancing can be used as a secret
language to communicate with Morse code.
