goodbye/fun facts....Helen Keller Day is on June 27 It is a day to remember her achievements in life, and her resilience when overcoming challenges.   Helen Keller was born June 27, 1880 At nineteen months, she suffered from a form of bacterial meningitis, which left her unable to see, hear, or speak.   The family sought the advice of Alexander Graham Bell, a famous scientist and inventor known for inventing the first telephone, who advised them to apply to the Perkins Institute for the Blind in Boston.  Following Bell's advice...Keller was introduced to a teacher there named Anne Sulliva who was blind herself, who would become Keller's tutor and lifelong companion.  Keller died in 1968 at the age of 87...and in 1999, TIME Magazine listed Hellen in their 100 most important figures of the 20th century.
