the courageous work of the service members of Coast Guard.
The United States Coast Guard is one of the six US Armed
Forces...they are a multi-missioned service. During peacetime, it
operates under the Department of Homeland Security. However, their
responsibilities can be transferred to the US Navy by the President
of the United States any time deemed necessary, or by Congress
during war times. The U.S. Coast Guard patrols our
coasts for drug smugglers, human trafficking and both domestic and
international terrorism. The qualifying criteria to becoming
a coast guard rescue swimmer is so tough that 50% of applicants
fail every year.
